Microsoft Reclaims $4 Trillion Valuation Amid OpenAI Partnership Expansion
Microsoft's market capitalization surged past $4 trillion on Tuesday, closing at $4.04 trillion as shares ROSE 2% to $542.07. The rally followed OpenAI's restructuring into a public benefit corporation, with Delaware and California regulators greenlighting the move.
The tech giant solidified its AI dominance through a revised deal granting a 27% stake in OpenAI's for-profit entity, valued at $135 billion. Microsoft secured exclusive IP and API rights through 2032—extending even to artificial general intelligence (AGI) development phases. Analysts responded by lifting price targets to an average of $631.12, implying 16% upside potential.
OpenAI committed to purchasing $250 billion in Microsoft Azure cloud services incrementally, further intertwining the companies' infrastructure. This marks Microsoft's second breach of the $4 trillion valuation threshold after initially achieving the milestone in July.
